Tomatoes, Limoncello for July 4th Weekend Radio Show

Posted on

Our 21st Year of Eating, Drinking and Telling You About It!

HOUSTON Saturdays and Sunday 4-5 p.m., NewsRadio 740 KTRH

A Presentation of Spec’s Wines, Spirits & Finer Foods

SATURDAY: Everything’s comin’ up red, white and blue this 4th of July weekend – except for just a little bleu, blanc et rouge. It’s tomato season in Texas, which certainly takes care of the red part. We talk and taste with restaurant veteran Frank Crapitto, who got so weary of today’s pale, flavorless, industrial tomatoes that he started growing his own. These things really taste like tomatoes! And in our Grape and Grain segment, we learn all about the zesty limoncello made around the magical Italian seaside town of Sorrento. Better still, we get to enjoy Jean-Francois Bonnette’s French accent while we do it.

AUSTIN Saturdays 10-11 a.m., Talk 1370

  1. I heard this show yesterday and had to have some Villa Massa Limoncello Di Sorrento. Evidently Specs doesn’t have it. Does anyone know where this can be had in the Austin area?
