Lovers of all things Spanish gathered at El Meson in Houston’s Rice Village last night for a remarkable seven-course dinner inspired by the wines of Marques de Murrieta in the fabled region of Rioja. It was especially exciting to hear the wines described by El Presidente of the bodega, a class-act fellow with a name to match – Don Vicente Dalmau Cebrian-Sagarriga y Suares-Llanos.
Happily, his wines were much quicker to enjoy, especially with courses created by El Meson’s multi-talented (cooking, acting, directing, writing, what else?) chef-owner Pedro Angel Garcia. In this photo, Pedro is flanked by John DeMers of Delicious Mischief and wine buyer Collin Williams of Spec’s – which, naturally enough, sells the Marques de Murrieta wines and had a big hand in pulling the El Meson dinner together.
