AUSTIN: Saturdays 10-11 a.m., Talk 1370
We’ve been known to enjoy a meal at Eddie V’s seafood restaurants wherever the concept turns up. But it had to start someplace, and that someplace was Austin. We settle in with the general manager to talk about how, to my way of thinking, Eddie V’s takes the modern prime-steakhouse and applies it to finfish and shellfish, with delicious results. Yes, there’s a meal involved, and we just can’t wait to share a bite with you. This show also includes a trip down memory lane, to the very first restaurant I ever remember loving. The place is called Lea’s, and it’s on the old highway in a central Louisiana town called Lecompte. Old Mr. Lea is gone – no longer around to offer us kids a “sucker” if we eat our vegetables – but with his daughter’s care, the great home-cooking goes on.
