AUSTIN Saturdays 10-11 a.m. on Talk 1370
SATURDAY: It all started with Jane and Michael – Stern, that is, when they wrote a book called “Roadfood” something like three decades ago. Nobody took America’s diners, drive-ins and dives very seriously as cuisine back then, but we certainly do now. We catch up with Jane and Michael at the annual Roadfood Festival, hosted this year in New Orleans, and we learn about the slow transference of roadfood wisdom from paper between covers to the World Wide Web. We also chat with two Texas Roadfood icons: Royer’s Round Top Café and Louis Mueller’s Barbecue from Taylor, both of whom were busy making us proud serving their food in the streets of the French Quarter.
