Mighty Fine Burger in Austin

AUSTIN: Saturday May 1, 10-11 a.m. on Talk 1370

SATURDAY, May 1: No one in Austin ever needs to say the words “just a burger” as though it’s halfway to an apology again – not with Mighty Fine on the case. Mighty Fine has just won Texas-wide honors for the excellence of its business performance, an esoteric or even meaningless thing if the burgers weren’t so darn good. We sit down (or chow down, more accurately) with one of the owners and chat about the many things Mighty Fine is doing right. Hint: these things include curly fries cut from actual potatoes on premises and milkshakes made with Blue Bell ice cream.

Also, in our Grape & Grain segment, we survey an extraordinary wine tourism opportunity coming up in August and led by TV personality Burt Wolf and Hermen Key of Spec’s. The trip is actually a river cruise up through the Rhone Valley with a generous pouring of Burgundy. Rumor has it the cruise will include some wine.
