A Culinary Trip to Finland and France

HOUSTON: Saturdays and Sundays 4-5 p.m. on NewsRadio 740 KTRH

SATURDAY, May 1: We are, alas, preempted by the Astros.

SUNDAY, May 2: We recently returned from a remarkable journey with two impressive chefs, one who cooks French in Texas and the other who cooks Italian in Finland. For a cookbook titled Energy Cuisine (coming from Bright Sky Press in the fall), we traveled to Finland and France with chef David Denis of Le Mistral in Houston and chef Jani Lehtinen of Bucco in Pori, Finland. And oh the adventures we had, from cooking a meal inspired by a Finnish sauna on the snowy Baltic shore to shopping for fish, rabbit and vegetables for an outdoor feast in warm, sunny Provence. You had to be there. Unless, of course, you get to hear this show – recorded in the heat (or cold, in Finland) of battle.
